Anna Fotyga

Anna Elzbieta Fotyga (born 12 January 1957) is a Polish economist, politician, and Member of the European Parliament (elected on 13 June 2004).
Fotyga is a graduate of international trade in Gdansk University and the Danish School of Public Administration.
- In 1981 and after 1989 she was the manager of the Foreign Office of the Solidarity headquarters in Gdansk and close collaborator of Lech Kaczynski.
- From 1997-2001, she was an adviser for foreign affairs under the Polish prime minister Jerzy Buzek.
- Later she was deputy chairman of the Supervisory Board of Social Security Office (Zakład Ubezpieczen Spolecznych, ZUS) and an expert of International Labour Organization (Międzynarodowa Organizacja Pracy), and the World Bank.
- From 2002 to 2004, she was mayor of Gdansk.
In the European elections of 13th June 2004 she was a candidate of Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc in constituency #1 Pomeranian Voivodship and received 25,994 votes (second best result in the region).
