Ann Coffey

Ann Coffey (born 31 August 1946) has been the Labour member of Parliament for Stockport in north-west England since the 1992 general election. She had previously been a leader of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for four years and had contested the Cheadle seat in the 1987 general election.
In her first term in Parliament, Coffey served as an Opposition whip and an Opposition health spokesman. When Labour won the 1997 general election, Coffey was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Tony Blair. In 1998, she became PPS to Alistair Darling and has remained with him since in his various government roles.
Coffey voted for the military intervention in Iraq in 2003 and for the ban on fox hunting.
