There has been a big debate across the US on this issue though. The Waste Control Specialists facility is located in Andrews. WCS is a Dallas-based waste facility. The company recently earned the rights to dispose of waste. Before this the company was only allowed to store waste. WCS won a bid to recieve uranium byproduct (used to make nuclear bombs) from a plant in Fernald, Ohio.

Andrews is home to the first Kirby brand vacuum cleaner factory outside of the original factory located in Ohio. This factory has provided jobs to the community since it opened in 1972.
