Amphicyonids are extinct Carnivora mammals from the from the family Amphicyonidae that were probably closely related to the Ursidae (bears).
This contains three subfamilies: the Amphicyoninae, the Daphoeninae and the Thanmastocyoninae.
Speculation exists as to whether the waheela - an unknown large, white wolf-like creature from the barren arctic wildernesses of northern Cadanda and Alaska - may be a surviving representative of the Amphicyonidae.
