American Movie is a documentary about the making of an independent film. Milwaukee filmmaker Mark Borchardt feverishly works to finish his independent horror film Northwestern, only to slip into a downward spiral of poor financing and lack of interest by his friends. An amusing view into the lives of real Milwaukee residents. American Movie was directed by Chris Smith.
