Amenia is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Dutchess County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,115.
The community of Amenia is in the Town of Amenia on US Route 44 at the junction of Routes 22 and 343.
Geography
The community is near the border of Connecticut.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.3 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.49% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,115 people, 438 households, and 295 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 213.1/km² (552.9/mi²). There are 478 housing units at an average density of 91.4/km² (237.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 91.03% White, 3.32% Black or African American, 0.90% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.35% from other races, and 2.69% from two or more races. 3.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
