Amar Gopal Bose (born 1929) is an American electrical engineer.
Bose's father, Nani Gopal Bose, was a Bengali revolutionary who had to flee Kolkata in order to avoid persecution by British colonial police. Born and raised in Philadelphia, after receiving a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Bose started doing research on speaker technology in 1956.
In 1964, he founded the Bose Corporation, which specializes in designing and producing high quality sound systems.
In addition to running his company, Bose was a professor of electrical engineering at MIT for many years until he retired after the Fall 2000 term. While he retained the title of professor, his work at MIT for years was little more than teaching his single acoustics class.
