As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,007 people, 392 households, and 283 families residing in the town. The population density is 281.7/km² (732.0/mi²). There are 434 housing units at an average density of 121.4/km² (315.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.54% White, 0.40% African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 2.28% from other races, and 2.09% from two or more races. 6.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 392 households out of which 38.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% are non-families. 24.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.05.
