Alto Pass is a village located in Union County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 388.
Geography
Alto Pass is located at 37°34'11" North, 89°19'8" West (37.569758, -89.318873)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.6 km² (2.2 mi²). 5.6 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.92% water.
Bald Knob Cross is located just outside the village.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 388 people, 159 households, and 111 families residing in the village. The population density is 69.7/km² (180.5/mi²). There are 168 housing units at an average density of 30.2/km² (78.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 87.11% White, 0.00% African American, 0.77% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 10.57% from other races, and 1.55% from two or more races. 15.21% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 159 households out of which 25.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.7% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% are non-families. 27.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 3.00.
