Althorp (pronounced "all-thorp") is a country estate and stately home in Northamptonshire, England, located roughly 5 miles (8 km) northwest of the county town Northampton. It is the ancestral home of the Spencer family, currently owned by Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer.
Diana, Princess of Wales is said to be buried on a small island in the middle of a lake on the estate, although many conspiracy theorists believe she is in fact buried at Great Brington church.
The estate and house are open to the public during the summer months (July 1 to September 30 in 2004), apart from August 31, the anniversary of Diana's death.
