Almond is a town located in Allegany County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,604.
The Town of Almond is on the eastern edge of the county. The town has a village also called Almond.

History
The first part of the town to be settled was near Karrdale in 1796 . When Allegany County was established in 1806, the region now in the Town of Almond was part of the Town of Alfred. The Town of Almond was incorporated in 1821. After Almond was established, parts were removed to form the towns of West Almond and Birdsall.
Geography
The east town line is the border of Steuben County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 118.7 km² (45.8 mi²). 118.6 km² (45.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.02% is water.
The Southern Tier Expressway (Interstate 86 and New York 17) passes through the town.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,604 people, 632 households, and 439 families residing in the town. The population density is 13.5/km² (35.0/mi²). There are 789 housing units at an average density of 6.7/km² (17.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.95% White, 0.06% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 2.12% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.56% from other races, and 0.31% from two or more races. 0.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 632 households out of which 32.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.6% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% are non-families. 25.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.54 and the average family size is 3.05.
In the town the population is spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 27.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $38,472, and the median income for a family is $48,839. Males have a median income of $32,026 versus $25,000 for females.
