Alfredo Ovando Candía (1918 - 1982) was a Bolivian dictator, general and political figure. He overthrew Víctor Paz Estenssoro in 1964, but gave up power to the more popular René Barrientos. He then served as the president of Bolivia from 1969 and until he was overthrown in 1970.
