Akron is a town located in Washington County, Colorado. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,711. It is the county seat of Washington CountyTemplate:GR.
Geography
Akron is located at 40°9'42" North, 103°12'43" West (40.161530, -103.211850)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,711 people, 734 households, and 457 families residing in the town. The population density is 455.6/km² (1,179.3/mi²). There are 835 housing units at an average density of 222.3/km² (575.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.51% White, 0.12% African American, 1.23% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 4.32% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 11.75% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
