Akiyama Yoshifuru

Akiyama Yoshifuru (秋山好古 Akiyama Yoshifuru) (1859-1930) was considered the Father of the Japanese Cavalry.
He was vice Admiral Akiyama Saneyuki's older brother. He entered the Department of Cavalry, Military Academy in 1877. He went to the War College in 1883. He also trained for a while in France.
During the 1904-1905 Russo-Japanese War, Akiyama defeated the Cossacks at the Battle of Mukden.
Akiyama was promoted to full general in 1916.
When he finished his military career, he became the principal of Hokuyo Junior High School, now the Matsuyama High School.
