Adrian Township is a township located in Lenawee County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 5,749. The city of Adrian is located partially within the township.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 89.5 km² (34.6 mi²). 89.5 km² (34.6 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,749 people, 2,147 households, and 1,711 families residing in the township. The population density is 64.2/km² (166.4/mi²). There are 2,224 housing units at an average density of 24.8/km² (64.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 92.68% White, 1.65% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.94% from other races, and 1.48% from two or more races. 5.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,147 households; of which 32.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.7% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.3% are non-families. 16.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the township the population is spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 29.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.4 males.
