Adobe Audition is a digital audio editor computer program from Adobe Systems. Originally Cool Edit was a shareware program with some crippleware features. Adobe purchased the latest, non-shareware version (Cool Edit Pro 2.0) from Syntrillium Software in May 2003. They renamed it Adobe Audition and released it on August 18.
While the first version of Audition was essentially Cool Edit Pro under a different name, version 1.5 was recently released with software improvements made by Adobe, such as pitch correction, frequency space editing, a large loop library, CD project view, basic video editing and integration with Adobe Premiere, and many enhancements to other functions.

- 75 MB of available hard-disk space (700MB recommended for installing optional audio clips)
- 800x600 color display (1024x768 display recommended)
- Stereo sound card (mutitrack soundcard recommended)
- CD-ROM drive
- CD-RW drive for audio CD creation
- Microsoft DirectX 9.0 software for video importing
- Speakers or headphones are recommended
- Microphone (recommended)
