Acoustic Control Corporation

Acoustic Control Corporation was a manufacturer of instrument amplifiers, based at Van Nuys, California. But was originaly located in a shack in Los Angeles, California, on Sunset Bulevard.
They are particularly remembered for the Acoustic 361 bass stack, consisting of an Acoustic 360 bass pre-amplifier and one or two Acoustic 361 W-bins, each featuring a built-in 200 Watt RMS power amplifier and a rear-facing 18" Cerwin-Vega loudspeaker.
The company was started by Steve Marks, with the help of his father.
Most of the amplifiers produced by A.C.C., were solid-state, but a few were valve amps.
Robby Krieger of The Doors is most noted for using their 260 head, and 261 cabinet, which were the first models ever produced by the company. The Doors were said to have made the company lift off the ground.
Albert King and Chuck Berry also used the 260, and 261. Other users are the following: -Jaco Pastorious -The Mothers Of Invention -John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin -Carl Radle of Derrick and The Dominoes -Rick Gech of Blind Faith -The Chambers Brothers
They went out of bussiness in the 1980's, but currently they make P.A. amplifiers, under the name True Tone Audio.
They also produced one guitar, the Black Widow. They also produced one bass, the 'Black Widow Bass'.
