The Abe River (安倍川 Abekawa) is a river in Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan. It is 53.3km long and has 567.0km² watershed.
The river rises from Akaishi Mountains which stretch over the border between Yamanashi Prefecture and Shizuoka Prefecture, and goes through the west of central Shizuoka City and falls into the Suruga Bay (or the Pacific Ocean). It is known for its clear stream and supplies water to Shizuoka City.
Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who was once based in Shizuoka, carried out extensive construction and formed the present route of the river. Abekawamochi (安倍川餅), mochi (rice cake) dusted with kinako (soybean flour), was a traditional cake served at teahouses beside the river.ja:安倍川
