Abbad III al-Mu'tamid

Abbad III al-Mu'tamid (1027 - 1095), was the third and last ruler (resigned 1069-1091) of Seville in Spain from Abbadid dynasty.
After his father Abbad II al-Mu'tadid died he inherited this relatively new kingdom (his grandfather, Abu al-Qasim Muhammad ibn Abbad had founded it) and became Muslim ruler of Seville in 1069. In 1071 he attempted at seizing the surrounding area and kingdom called Córdoba. He lost Córdoba in 1075 but regained it in 1078.
Abbad III supported Almoravid ruler Yusuf ibn Tashfin against Castilian King Alfonso VI in battle of az-Zallaqah (1086). After another decade his whole kingdom was overthrown (both Seville and Córdoba) and he was deposed.
He may also be noted as a poet.
