Abarema is a neotropical genus of large trees from the Pea family Fabaceae. They grow from Mexico (Abarema idiopoda) to Bolivia. Most of the species can be found in the Amazon Basin and the Guyana Highlands. But some occur in Australia and China. They have a deep-green fernlike foliage, with bipinnately compound leaves. There are currently 45 species.
