A Global Threat

A Global Threat is a punk rock music group that was started in Maine in 1997 and is now based in Massachusetts. The original members were Bryan, Brett, Westie, and Tim. They soon self-released the EP “The Kids Will Revolt Against All Authority.” In 1998 Mike and Pete joined the band and they began playing in Boston and New York. While in New York they made friends with Mark Unseen (a member of The Unseen) who released the “Kids...” EP on his ADD Records label. Mark Unseen became a member of the band when during a weekend of gigs in New York the band's van broke down. Mark offered them transportation as payment for including him in the band. The group accepted and thus Mark Unseen became a member. In November (Year=?) they released the EP “What the Fuck Will Change?”

In 1999 they released a split EP called 7inch in conjunction with Broken. They get a new rhythm guitar player (Johnny) and tour the east coast and the southern states. They get into a three-car accident in Austin, Texas, and the rest of the tour is cancelled. They strike a record deal with GMM records. After a weekend of gigs that winter Brett is fired/quits. They do some shows with Johnny on bass, after which they get a new bass player (Gabe) and let Johnny go. They rerecorded 4 songs from the “Kids” EP, combine them with the “WTF” ep, and make their first full-length cd “What the Fuck Will Change.” At the same time they recorded the “Until We Die” full length. They then do a split 7inch with The End. Inn November Mark plays his last show, deciding that being in two bands is too much.

In 2000, they tour the east coast with the Statistics. The stats bail after two shows, but AGT finishes the whole thing out. The “In The Red” ep is recorded and “Until We Die” is released on Rodent Popsicle records. They do a national tour with Awkward Thought, joined for parts by The Krays, Truents, Toxic Narcotic, and The Flatliners. Late that year they let Gabe go. In 2001 they play as a three-piece with Pete on bass, and Bryan on Guitar. They play some shows in Mass and NYC then record a split 7inch with Toxic Narcotic. They then tour with The Casualties with new bassist John with Pete back on guitar. In December they record their 3rd full length “Here We Are”(Punkcore Records) Bryan plays guitar as Pete plans to leave and move to L.A.

In 2002 Pete plays his “last show.” He cries. “What the Fuck Will Change?” is re-released on Punkcore. They tour again with The Casualties. Pete rejoins for a U.S. tour with Defiance and Clit 45. Earache/Pass The Time the EP is recorded. Bryan played guitar. In 2003 they tour the west coast. Joe from F-Minus played guitar. They tour the east coast with Clit 45, with Pete back. Again. They finish the year with tours all over the U.S.
