100BASE-FX
|
100BASE-FX is a version of fast ethernet over optical fiber. It uses two strands of multi-mode optical fiber for receive and transmit. It is also known as the "fiber" version of 100BASE-TX. Maximum length is 400 metres for half-duplex connections (to ensure collisions are detected) or 2 kilometres for full-duplex.
100BASE-FX is not compatible with 10BASE-FL, the 10 MBit/s version over optical fiber. It uses a 1.3 micrometre near infrared (NIR) light wavelength.
