Prong

Prong was a heavy metal/thrash metal band, formed in 1985. Prong had two independent releases, Primitive Origins and Force Fed. The albums attracted the attention of Epic Records, which signed the trio in 1989. The group disbanded in 1997 after the Rude Awakening tour, but re-formed in 2003. A pioneer of the urban metal scene, Prong is fronted by Tommy Victor. Korn's Jonathan Davis, as well as Trent Reznor allegedly claim Prong as an influence to their musical style.

Primitive Origins (Album, 1987)

Primitive Origins was released in August 1987 under the Spigot label. This first album features songs like "In My Veins" which was later re-recorded during a session with John Peel (BBC). All songs were written by Tommy Victor and Michael Kirkland.

Force Fed (Album, 1988)

Force Fed was released in January 1988. Some songs on this record were used during the 1989 EP Peel Sessions, and some were taken from their EP "Third From The Sun". Although the EP is no longer available, Prong still performs the song "Third From The Sun" regularly in their live-shows. Drummer Ted Parsons co-wrote some of the songs for the first time.

Peel Sessions (EP, 1990)

Peel Sessions is Prong's first EP, released in 1990. Recorded in 1989 and released under the Strange Fruit label, this EP features four tracks from their first two albums with Primitive Origins and Force Fed but with a more "clean" sound to them. The session was broadcast by the BBC on the John Peel Show on BBC Radio 1.

Beg to Differ (Album, 1990)

Beg To Differ was released in March 1990. The first album released under the CBS label can best be described as "metal gone alternative". The album also includes one live track ("Third From The Sun") recorded at CBGB's, New York in 1989.

Prove You Wrong (Album, 1991)

Prove You Wrong was released in September 1991. The first, and only, album with Troy Gregory on bass features songs with a lot of electronic samples and a "techno" undertone to them. This will even be more so on the next two albums. Troy Gregory was kicked out of the band for "being a brat". (Tommy Victor in an MTV interview)

Whose Fist Is This Anyway? (EP) (1992)

Whose Fist Is This Anyway? consists of five remixes done by various artists including Paul Raven who will later replace Troy Gregory on bass. It was released under the Sony label and also features a previously unreleased track called "Talk Talk".

Cleansing (Album, 1994)

Cleansing was released in January 1994. This is the first album produced by Terry Date (all previous albums were produced by Mark Dobson) and featuring John Bechdel on keyboards. Cleansing was Prong's first real attempt at mainstream success.

Rude Awakening was released in May 1996. This album includes Tommy Victor, Ted Parsons and Raven. Rude Awakening is an Enhanced CD and it includes the MTV music video, "Snap Your Fingers Sap Your Neck."

Tommy Victor has quit Danzig and drummer Dan Laudo has left the band. There have been no announcements from the band to get a new drummer but the band has been writing a new album with a release date expected in 2006.
