The École de technologie supérieure (Higher School of Technology) is an engineering university founded in 1974 and located in Montreal specifically for students that have graduated from college technical programs (CEGEP). It offers co-op (co-operative) programs to all of its students, giving them a hands-on experience in their field of study.
Undergratuates programs offered at l'ÉTS are the following: software engineering, information technology engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automated manufacturing engineering and construction engineering. It also offers multiple master's degree programs and doctorate in engineering.
It is well-known for its student-run technical clubs. One of the world's fastest human powered submarines, Omer[1] (http://omer.etsmtl.ca), was developed by one such club. A robotic submarine named SONIA[2] (http://sonia.etsmtl.ca), a walking robot[3] (http://wm.etsmtl.ca/), Eclipse[4] (http://eclipse.etsmtl.ca/) the solar powered car and many others have won countless prizes over the years.
The school is represented in Canadian Interuniversity Sport by the ETS Piranhas.
