History

was created in
1887. It was named
for the numerous
lakes in the
area.
Geography

Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,995
km²
(1,156
mi²).
2,469 km² (953 mi²) of it is land and 526 km² (203 mi²) of
it is water. The total area is 17.58% water.
