A friend of mine who worked at RR aero engines in the early 90s told me that the logo on the engines is subtly different from that on the cars. One has a "Y" with arms of equal length, the other does not. So far, I've not been able to find large enough versions of the logos to verify this.
Wasn't the name "Rolls Royce 1971 ltd." (or some such year) used at one pont?
Do BMW have a right to use the name on cars for perpetuity or just for a fixed time?

Rolls-Royce was founded in 1904 and not in 1906!
There is a large imbalance of cars to aero-engines in this article - and no mention of the Bristol aero side at Filton! (And where do I go to find RR & Associates)
And to confirm - yes the renascent aero-firm was R-R 1971 ltd. Being Derby-born and bred (and later living in Bristol) the date is burned on my mind. The Bristol Aero side had I recollect only just recently merged with RR went it went insolvent - they were NOT best pleased.

Bankrupcy?

'THIS ARTICLE NEEDS RE_EDITING TO BRING THE MAIN ROLLS_ROYCE COMPANIES (IE _NOT_ JUST THE CARS) TO THE FRONT OF THE ARTICLE). THESE ARE DECIDELY MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE CAR COMPANY ANYWAY (AND ARE NOT BANKRUPT !!)
Rolls Royce has been declared bankrupt by its owners, BMW. They announced that the car companies selling numbers had fallen by 60% in the last 8 months'
