Talk:Hawaii (island)
From Academic Kids
The Island of Hawaii is an important place in the Pacific. It is not (although conterminous with) the County of Hawaii, a modern political division. Marshman 22:54, 1 Aug 2003 (UTC)
weasel terms? :
"However, the term "Big Island" is starting to fall into disfavor.
Because of this, it is thought that Kailua-Kona is slowly becoming economically more significant than Hilo." --Fellnearshiva 10:38, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I probably put in the first weasel term. It is just a comment from local knowledge, but I can change the wording. I never did like the uncertain implication of the second term and have tried (so far without luck) to confirm it as fact. It is clear, from development on the ground, that Kailua-Kona is growing much faster than Hilo. But "slowly becoming...more significant" says alot without saying anything. - Marshman 17:58, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
