Talk:Chestnut oak

Why do you consider the chestnut oak to be a "subgroup" of the white oak? It is my understanding that they are only related by genus not species. What do you mean by a "subgroup"?
---
"White oaks" here refers to the Leucobalanus section of the oak genus, Quercus. Oaks are broadly divided into Leucobalanus, the white oak group, of which chestnut oaks are a subgroup, and Erythrobalanus, the red oak group, of which live oaks are a subgroup.
By the way, it's appreciated if you register and sign your stuff.
