  • Wolverine Imposter (real name unknown, aka "Skrullverine"): Alien Skrull who impersonated and believed himself to be Wolverine, taking his place in Uncanny X-Men #370 (1999). Died in Astonishing X-Men #3 (1999). Infiltrator.

New Mutant Graduate X-Men

While the X-Men were deaged, the New Mutants briefly "graduated" to X-Men in Uncanny X-Men Annual #10 (1986).

"Muir Island" X-Men

In the wake of the X-Men's "death" during "Fall of the Mutants", a team of X-Men was put together on Muir Island in Uncanny X-Men #254-255 (1989).

"Phalanx Covenant" X-Men

To oppose the threat of the techno-organic alien Phalanx, a team of X-Men was quickly banded together in Uncanny X-Men #316 (1994).

Astonishing X-Men

After Professor X disbanded the X-Men in an attempt to "smoke out" a Skrull imposter in their ranks, Cyclops and Jean Grey pulled together a team to help the Mannites in Astonishing X-Men #1 (1999)

"Eve of Destruction" X-Men

When most of the X-Men were captured by Magneto, Jean Grey recruited a temporary team in Uncanny X-Men #392 (2001).

X-Treme X-Men, later the X-Treme Sanctions Executive

When Storm decided to search for Destiny's diaries, she took a section of X-Men with her, forming a new splinter group in X-Treme X-Men #1 (2001). This group later became an UN-chartered group known as the "X-Treme Sanctions Executive" (XSE), and still maintains a degree of seperation from the core teams, residing only in an outbuilding at the Xavier Institute.
