International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center – better known by its Spanish acronym CIMMYT, from Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo – is a research institute dedicated to the development of improved strains of wheat and maize.
It is based in Mexico City and has another 17 regional offices elsewhere in the world.
CIMMYT is one of the 17 specialized research centers – the "Future Harvest Centers" – of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
