Zuni Pueblo is a census-designated place located in McKinley County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 6,367.
Geography
Zuni Pueblo is located at 35°4'10" North, 108°50'48" West (35.069327, -108.846716)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 22.9 km² (8.8 mi²). 22.9 km² (8.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 6,367 people, 1,488 households, and 1,334 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 278.1/km² (720.0/mi²). There are 1,622 housing units at an average density of 70.8/km² (183.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 2.12% White, 0.03% African American, 97.03% Native American, 0.03% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 2.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,488 households out of which 42.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.1% are married couples living together, 31.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.3% are non-families. 9.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.26 and the average family size is 4.54.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 34.7% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 16.8% from 45 to 64, and 6.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 92.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.2 males.
