XNA is also the IATA airport code for Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
XNA (Xbox/DirectX New generation Architecture) is a proposed successor to DirectX, uniting varied game development API's into a common framework. XNA was announced March 24, 2004, at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, California.
This initiative will lead to development tools previously available only to the Xbox becoming available to Windows developers as well, such as the audio authoring tool XACT, the analysis tool PIX, and the set of Xbox Live development tools for features such as billing, security and matchmaking services. The XNA initiative will also similarly benefit Xbox, for example by bringing Windows' High-Level Shader Language (HLSL) to the platform.
XNA is proposed to work on Windows Longhorn, Xbox 360, and mobile devices.
