Woodbury is a city located in Washington County, Minnesota and is considered a suburb of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It is situated east of Saint Paul along Interstate 94. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 46,463.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 92.2 km² (35.6 mi²). 90.6 km² (35.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.74% water. When founded, the city was mostly timber but was converted to farm land. Recently, the farm land has given way to developments and shopping malls.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 46,463 people, 16,676 households, and 12,657 families residing in the city. The population density is 512.6/km² (1,327.7/mi²). There are 17,541 housing units at an average density of 193.5/km² (501.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 90.04% White, 2.51% African American, 0.24% Native American, 5.01% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.62% from other races, and 1.56% from two or more races. 2.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 16,676 households out of which 43.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.8% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.1% are non-families. 18.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.20.
In the city the population is spread out with 30.6% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 36.9% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 6.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $76,109, and the median income for a family is $84,997. Males have a median income of $60,224 versus $37,676 for females. The per capita income for the city is $32,606. 1.7% of the population and 0.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 1.2% of those under the age of 18 and 1.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Employment
The city's largest employers include 3M, whose headquarters are located a few miles west in Maplewood, Fortis, EcoWater, the Target Corporation and State Farm Insurance. State Farm's status as a large-scale employer in the city is in question after they announced they are scaling back operations at their "customer response center," one of four such centers around the country.
