Wishmaster (film)

Wishmaster and its three sequels are films about a jinn that is released from a jewel, and seeks to capture enough souls to open a portal and free his fellow jinni from their prison. The jinn does this by granting a wish that also captures the wisher's soul.
In each movie, the jinn goes about this a different way, but in all of the movies the three wishes must be granted to the "Waker", the person who released the jinn from the imprisoning gem (in all four movies a woman). In all four movies, the jinn is resealed or destroyed before it can release its comrades and create a literal Hell on Earth. In the first two movies this is accomplished by undoing previous wishes with the third wish. In the third, the Waker dies before the wish can be made. In the fourth and final movie, the Waker actually makes a third wish early on in the movie, but the jinn is unable to grant the wish (for the Waker to love him for who he really is) and finally gets killed by the Waker's parapalegic boyfriend.
