Winnfield is a small city located in Winn Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,749.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.6 km² (3.3 mi²). 8.6 km² (3.3 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Winnfield was the hometown of Huey Long and Earl Long.

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,749 people, 2,172 households, and 1,446 families residing in the city. The population density is 668.6/km² (1,733.4/mi²). There are 2,554 housing units at an average density of 297.0/km² (770.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 48.29% White, 49.83% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.16% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. 1.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,172 households out of which 33.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.9% are married couples living together, 24.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
