West Milford Township is a township located in Passaic County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 26,410.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 208.3 km² (80.4 mi²), making it the largest township in New Jersey. 195.4 km² (75.4 mi²) of it is land and 12.9 km² (5.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.18% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 26,410 people, 9,190 households, and 7,186 families residing in the township. The population density is 135.2/km² (350.1/mi²). There are 9,909 housing units at an average density of 50.7/km² (131.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 95.08% White, 1.23% African American, 0.60% Native American, 1.02% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.61% from other races, and 1.45% from two or more races. 3.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 9,190 households out of which 39.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.3% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.8% are non-families. 16.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.23.
In the township the population is spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 33.6% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.4 males.
The median income for a household in the township is $74,124, and the median income for a family is $80,264. Males have a median income of $51,105 versus $37,159 for females. The per capita income for the township is $28,612. 4.1% of the population and 2.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.1% of those under the age of 18 and 2.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Newfoundland and Green Lake
Newfoundland is a neighborhood of West Milford located along the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad tracks and New Jersey State Highway 23. It is home to Green Pond (just north of Picatinny Arsenal), a private lake community owned by Green Pond Corporation and Lake End Corporation.
The 2003 film The Station Agent was set, and filmed, largely in Newfoundland.
