Wendy Alexander

Wendy Alexander (born 27 June, 1963) is a member of the Scottish Parliament for Paisley North. She is a member of the Labour Party. Prior to entering the Scottish Parliament, Wendy worked in the private, voluntary and public sectors and for an international management consultancy. This included a period as Special Adviser to the Secretary of State for Scotland (Donald Dewar). From 1999 to 2002 Wendy was a minister in the Scottish Executive, first as Minister for Communities, then as Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning, and finally as Minister for Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning. She resigned from Ministerial office on 4 May 2002.
She is currently a member of the Finance and Education Committees of the Scottish Parliament.
Wendy holds degrees from Glasgow University, the University of Warwick, and INSEAD.
Her brother Douglas is a Labour Member of Parliament for Paisley South.
