Wavendon

Wavendon is an area of Milton Keynes, England. It is located (Template:Gbmappingsmall) to the south-east of the town and is modernly divided into the districts of Wavendon Village and Wavendon Gate.
Wavendon is one of the ancient villages in Buckinghamshire that went into the new development of Milton Keynes in the 1960s.
The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'Wafa's hill'. In the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle in 969 the village was recorded as Wafandun.
The parish of Wavendon anciently contained the hamlet of Woburn Sands, but this is now recognised as an independent village, principally because it is outside the Milton Keynes city boundary.
The village is best known today for being the location of The Stables (http://www.stables.org) live music venue and the "Wavendon All-music Plan" music summer schools.
