Washington County is a county located in the state of Georgia. As of 2000, the population is 21,176. The county's county seat is Sandersville, Georgia6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,773 km² (684 mi²). 1,762 km² (680 mi²) of it is land and 10 km² (4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.59% water.
Demographics

The racial makeup of the county is 45.73% White, 53.20% Black or African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. 0.63% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
