WKOX

WKOX is an AM station from Framingham, Massachusetts. WKOX is on 1200 kHz, and has a power of 10 kW in the daytime, and 1 kW at nighttime. It is owned by Clear Channel Communications, and currently simulcasts WXKS, an AM station from Everett, Massachusetts. Since November 2004 the two stations have programmed liberal talk from the Air America Radio network, serving the Boston metro area.
WKOX was originally a daytime-only station on 1190 kHz, but during the 1980's moved to 1200 kHz to gain authorization to go 24 hours. In the past, WKOX has programmed the following formats: full service, classic country, local talk, and brokered foreign programming. WKOX signed on an FM station during the 1950's. Today, that station is 105.7 WROR, owned by Greater Media with a classic hits format targetting the Boston, Massachusetts area.
WKOX is highly directional to protect WOAI out of San Antonio, Texas.
