Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- To sign your posts (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).
- Try the Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the test area.
- If you need help, post a question at the Help Desk
- Follow the Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset
- Eventually, you might want to read the Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
- Remember Wikipedia:Neutral point of view
- Explore, be bold in editing pages, and, most importantly, have fun!
Good luck!
Oh, and I really appreciate not only the image, but the detailed source info and copyright info that went with it. They're both too rare.

Biltmore photo
Hi, Zen! Welcome! I just noticed you'd uploaded Image:Biltmore_Estate_Front.jpg and put it on the Biltmore Estate article. I don't know if it was their policy at the time, but when I went there in 2002 and still today, their photo policy is "Outside Biltmore House: Any reproduction of Biltmore House's exterior image is strictly limited to personal use only." [1] (http://www.biltmore.com/plan/tips/insider_photo.shtml) I have a photo of the house, too (yours is better), but because of that policy, I didn't contribute it. I hope you don't mind me removing it from the page. -- ke4roh 17:13, Jul 13, 2004 (UTC)
- I did notice that the link now directed me to the Biltmore policy, and i don't know if that was the policy back in 1999, but it probably was the same or similar. I appreciate the help as i learn to become a functioning part of this whole Wiki business.
- No problem. -- ke4roh 23:18, Jul 13, 2004 (UTC)
Not really sure
If this is where a discussion is taking place or that i should send to your page (i'm new to this as of today!), but i really appreciate the helpful hints, Meelar. zen 17:53, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- No problem. There's a discussion on Wikipedia:Village pump#Carrying on a discussion with another user, back and forth between his User_talk and mine? about this very issue. Best wishes, [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 17:55, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Oh, one further note--if you just type in {{GFDL}} on an image description page, it expands to this. Hope you find this useful. [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 18:15, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Image:Asheville_from_town_mountain.jpg
Hello, again. I'm not usually this talkative with just one person :-). This Asheville picture is an excellent photo of haze and smog as well as Asheville. Do you happen to know what the date was? (An approximate time would be nice, too.) I could look up the air quality monitoring data (since that's my day job) for Asheville on that day and provide a little more information. -- ke4roh 23:18, Jul 13, 2004 (UTC)
- I went back to the archives and found that it was taken January 8th, 2003 at 11:39 am, which i've updated the photo info for. Hope this helps! --zen 02:39, 14 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Captions project
Hi, Zen, as you may have discovered, Wikipedia has a number of self-improvement projects going. I'm working on starting one, and I'd be delighted to have your feedback and participation. Since I'm a champion of good captions, I thought the project should be Wikipedia:WikiProject Writing Captions. If you'd like to join, all you have to do is add your name to the list of participants. (~~~ does the trick.) Of course, you're invited to help out whether you join or not — that's the wiki way. ;-) I look forward to your comments. -- ke4roh 06:29, Jul 18, 2004 (UTC)
