User talk:Snowspinner/Stupidity

Here reside conversations on my talk page that were too new to archive, but too stupid to keep.

I think we block anonymous proxies as a rule anyway, they're generally only used for vandalism. At least we used to. - Hephaestos|§ 19:34, 23 May 2004 (UTC)
- It's impossible for you to block all anonymous IP addresses. For one thing, there are no complete lists of all anonymous IP addresses out there. And for another things, unless you see an IP address listed on an anonymous IP site, then there's really no surefire way to tell if an IP address is an anonymous IP or not. Jeez Loueeze, doncha guys know nothing? Jensu
- Well we do know it's an anon proxy in this particular case, because you just told us. - Hephaestos|§ 19:53, 23 May 2004 (UTC)
- and you believe everything I tell you? Well, not everything now do you? Look, my point is only that it's impossible to block all anon proxies. Even if you know some of their IPs, it's still probably not the best idea to do it unless someone using one engages in abuse. Otherwise, you may be blocking innocents. Jensu
- While I find sass dryly amusing, I am less amused by stupidity, which is reaching a terminal quantity here. Snowspinner 21:42, 23 May 2004 (UTC)
I was simply making a point about the futility of trying to block all anonymous proxy IPs, and I thought it was an apt point to make on a users talk page. I have no intentions of becoming an admin here, as if I'd have the time for it. Jensu
