I absolutely love the red cricket image of yours. Did you actually take this image, if so, where did you find this insect? Do you happen to know what species it is? Many thanks! – ClockworkSoul 17:38, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your reply, and for showing me all of your uploaded pictures. every one of them are quite stunning (Amguid crater, wow!).jpg. You and your husband obviously live a very active and interesting life!

I understand your feelings about barnstars in particular, and I agree that i's unfair that many very deserving people never get awarded a barnstar, which is one of the reasons I had for creating the Kindness Campaign. One of the foci we have there is to encourage people to notice when others make a major effort and recognize that effort appropriately, whether it be by a nice note on their talk page, or giving them a barnstar. At the moment, the emphasis is on the latter in the hopes that everybody that deserves one should get one, but it doesn't have to be that way. In the end, all I really want to do is help out morale a bit by making people feel appreciated (in fact, we would love if you dropped by if you had any suggestions we could use).

As for your WikiThanks, I'm not sure how that happened... one person gave me a big one as a big thanks, and other people just sort of picked up on it. As you can see, I've separated them out because they really aren't barnstars, and aren't meant to be. I've even been thinking of removing them from the page anyway because they're not entirely approproiate there, so I have no problem removing them.

Oh, there's one more thing I would to ask you: I've been considering joining the Mediation Committee, and I would like some advice from a veteran. Did you find it rewarding before you joined the board? What percentage of your WikiTime did you find spending on mediation? Many thanks. :)

Autofellatio

Hi, could you explain why the use of the word "copyrighted" means so much to you here in the context of autofellatio 2? The Berne convention is clear: all documents are copyrighted. All of the documents and pictures on Wikipedia and Wikimedia and everywhere else is copyrighted. Except those whose authors have been dead for over 100 years or something. So does "copyrighted" mean something more to you than the rights of an originator under the Bere convention? --Tony Sidaway|Talk 00:44, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

By the way, it is funny but I found the insect pictures on this page quite challenging. I suppose I got a taste of how awful it is for some people to see a penis or a vagina. --Tony Sidaway|Talk 00:46, 31 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Edit summary

Hello. Thought I would drop you another note to first let you know that User:Sannse is throwing your Wikimedia Board member credential around on my talk page in a way I would find embarrasing if I was you, especially since Sannse is complaining about something you never contacted me about. Second, given Sannse's repeated complaints, I thought I would explain that it is extra important to add an edit summary for controversial changes such as your edit to autofellatio: [1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Autofellatio&diff=prev&oldid=11676997). Wikipedia:Edit summary: "Even a short summary is better than no summary. Accurate summaries help people decide whether it is worthwhile for them to check a change." Thanks. Hyacinth 21:08, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)

CP

I think some people have that usage in English, too, but I discourage it because it seems to imply falsely that other things are not under copyright.

I can see the beauty in your "Grillon1" picture, but it does still give me the heeby jeebies.

Your logos are beautiful. I think I'll use one of them on my user page. --Tony Sidaway|Talk

Five-and-a-half

(Regarding my edit)

LOL I had no idea... the five-and-a-half was completely a joke.

That took a while for me to understand... But no, I hadn't even heard of you before this. Funny how that works though! -Grick 06:36, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations, in any case. :) -Grick 06:59, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Image deletion

Nearly nobody seems to like to discuss the current image deletion policy. See my messages here, here, here, here, and here (http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/2005-March/021869.html). Only three persons have responded to my messages. What do I do to ensure nobody deletes not-so-bad-quality non-redundant non-copyvio images? -- Paddu 07:23, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Hello Anthere. In that same vein, I left a question for you at Wikipedia_talk:Images_and_media_for_deletion/Unverified_orphans#Still_unverified_untaggued_orphans. – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 20:44, Apr 4, 2005 (UTC)

Mediation committee

Hello, Anthere. I hope everything is well. I just wanted to give you a head-up that I took your advice and requested that I be allowed to join the Mediation Committee. Hopefully, they'll decide that they can use me. Many thanks again for the advice, ClockworkSoul 18:40, 10 Apr 2005 (UTC).

Req. for your work on Sony v Universal

I think Sony Corp. v. Universal City Studios could make a great featured article. It doesn't quite meet the requirements yet, but it could with a little work. In light of the debates and cases about digital piracy and the obligations of hardware/software creators, the affirmation/modification/elimination of the Sony precedent is a key issue for the future of information technology.

Since you've worked on the article in the past, feel free to take another look to bring it "up to code" for a nomination. Feco 21:07, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Thx

Thank you for your answer. This morning all is running quite well - let's touch wood. --Otets 13:31, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

AMA Meeting Proposal

Hi! I put together a proposal for another AMA meeting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AMA_Meeting_%28suggested_topics%29#New_Membership_Meeting_Call) that I'm hopeful you can chime in on. --Wgfinley 19:47, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Deadminship

I'm beginning to get disillusioned with certain admins and their behavior toward "trolls." I may consider being renominated at a later date, but that's very unlikely - not until we have a coherent and fast method to remove administrators' sysop powers. Thanks, ugen64 14:34, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It always gets strong opposition, mainly from the sysops themselves. ugen64 19:38, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome, Anthere. I'm not in a position to judge, but I'm quite sure your articles on FR are at least as good as ours on EN, if not better:-) Take care. David Cannon 23:29, 1 May 2005 (UTC)

Mediation: Aesthetic Realism

Hello, Anthere. :) I'm very pleased to be part of the Mediation Committee, and I will lend a hand at Aesthetic Realism. I will have some difficulty over the next few days, though: this is finals week, and I'm scheduled for exams through Wednesday. – ClockworkSoul 05:19, 15 May 2005 (UTC)

hallo Florence - thank you very much and hallo to beautiful France (we are originally from northern Germany) - UK and students 68.46.71.104 21:34, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

hallo Florence - my students exercised as oceanographers, taking code from my space preparing for a German demonstration project on virtual university, the idea of Erik Moeller (user:eloquence) of the Wikiversity (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikiversity) for online e-teaching (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikiversity) and e-research and I offered my cooperation as teacher and my interactive virtual microscope (http://www.ecoscope.com/krill) for a course in Meeresbiologie (http://de.wikiversity.org/wiki/Ozeanographie/kurse/Meeresbiologie) and Biologie der Antarktis (http://de.wikiversity.org/wiki/Ozeanographie/kurse/Biologie_der_Antarktis) - for that project it is important to have reproducible credentials for the teachers. We also plan to move educational content from expensive university servers to the free project (in Germany we don't even have tuition in the University) - help us - or not - I really don't care if I am sysop or not, I have that all behind me - we try to help the NeXT generation - best greetings - keep up with your fine work Uwe Kils
