Wile E. Heresiarch is a technonerd who lives somewhere way out west. He takes his name from an offhand remark by Bertrand Russell, that quotable guy, about the theologian Pelagius. Well, that and Wile E. Coyote. WEH's technical competence is some combination of math and computers, so that's what his Wikipedia work is mostly about. He has also worked on articles about the physical sciences as well.

Here's a link to some bibliographic refs -- hopefully these will be handy to cut-n-paste. I've copied these from articles I wrote -- they're mostly math/statistics stuff.

some stuff I've originated: Survival analysis -- Illustration of the central limit theorem -- Integral transform -- Urn problem -- Incomplete beta function -- Incomplete gamma function -- Kullback-Leibler divergence -- Expectation-maximization algorithm -- Prior probability -- Integral equation -- Ergodic -- Low-discrepancy sequence -- Illustration of a low-discrepancy sequence -- Netlib -- Quasi-Monte Carlo method -- Law of the iterated logarithm -- Initial value problem -- Shooting method -- Illustration of the shooting method -- Gibbs sampling -- Faraday effect -- mixing (mathematics) -- draft lottery (1969) -- density estimation -- illustration of density estimation -- tsutsugaki -- shibori -- Roland Eötvös -- Galileo (unit) -- Eotvos (unit) -- Sant Climent de Taüll -- mixture density -- Pascal's pyramid -- barycentric coordinates -- generalized linear model -- autoregressive moving average model -- conjugate prior -- transparent alumina -- inverse probability -- Bertrand's paradox -- classical definition of probability -- Derg -- nonlinear autoregressive exogenous model -- transduction (machine learning) -- dimensionality reduction -- nuisance parameter -- marginal likelihood -- meander (architecture) -- Olinde Rodrigues -- insolubilia -- Cassini oval

some maps I made: Image:Syracuse_location.png -- Image:Agrigento_location.png -- Image:Carthage_location.png -- Image:Bodrum_location.png -- Image:Tus-location.png -- Image:Taüll-location.png -- Image:Arles-location.png -- Image:Spithead-location.png -- Image:Dahab-location.png -- Image:Jabal-musa-location.png

Here's an email I received from Edmund Robertson around March 4, 2004. He's one of the authors of the MacTutor math biographies web site. I'm keeping this here for future reference. Wile E. Heresiarch 18:26, 10 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Dear Robert
We have been asked several times whether our biographies can be copied
into wikipedia. Our answer is NO. We can see no point in it - we are happy
that wikipedia provides a link to our site for any biography they wish
but copying the biography means that the linking within the MacTutor
system is lost, our frequent updating is lost etc etc.
Please do not copy them - I know that some have been copied without
our permission.
Best wishes
Edmund Robertson
