The 2005 Scott Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's curling championship, was held at Mile One Stadium in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador from February 19 to 27, 2005. The tournament consists of 12 teams, one from each of Canada's provinces, one from Canada's territories and the defending champion, Colleen Jones whose team is known as Team Canada. Oddly, Jones' team is the only returning team from the 2004 Scott Tournament of Hearts as all other provincial champions lost in their playdowns. Colleen Jones, who has won the last four tournaments (for a total of 6) is joined by Cathy King who won the tournament in 1998. Also participating is 2002 Manitoba champion Jennifer Jones, 2001 Yukon/Northwest Territories champion Kerry Koe, 4-time Newfoundland champion Heather Strong, 2000 Nova Scotia champion (and former third of Colleen Jones) Kay Zinck, 3-time Prince Edward Island champion skip Rebecca Jean Macphee, 1996 Quebec champion second Brenda Nicholls (playing skip this time), 1993 New Brunswick champion second Sandy Comeau (playing skip this time) as well as new-comers Kelly Scott of British Columbia, Jenn Hanna of Ontario and Stefanie Lawton of Saskatchewan.

Interests

Geography

I have had an interest in geography since I was very young. I usually create/contribute articles on municipalities or regions in Canada and occaisonally subnational entities of the world. I also contribute a lot on my native Ottawa. Favourite places: Ottawa, Riverview, Restoule, Canada

Politics

One of my biggest insterests is in Canadian politics. I have created numerous articles on politicians, or have contributed to them. However, I enjoy the elections pages the most, and I contribute to provincial, federal and Ontario municipal election pages. I also have a lesser interest in American politics which grows every 2 years. Sometimes I take note of world leaders as well. Political compass score:

  • Economic Left/Right: -6.25
  • Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.67

I support the New Democratic Party, and the Liberal Party of Ontario.

Sports

I have an interest in all sports, but specifically I enjoy curling, and ice hockey. For wikipedia, I have created pages on curlers, hockey players, pages on major championships, team pages, stats, etc... I also have made contributions for various Olympics pages, and some contribs on Canadian football. Favourite curlers (women) Kelley Law, Shannon Kleibrink, Jennifer Jones, Jenn Hanna (men) Guy Hemmings, Hugh Millikin. Favourite hockey teams Ottawa 67's, Ottawa Senators. Favourite football team: Montreal Alouettes

pop culture

If I make any pop culture pages, it will usually be on Canadian television shows, singers, actors, etc.. This is with a few exceptions, as I have also contributed on articles related to Kylie Minogue who is my favourite singer.

April Fools 2005

The following was removed from this page Wikipedia:April 1, 2005/-2005 Britannica takeover of Wikimedia- (An April Fool's Joke about Encylopedia Britannica taking over Wikimedia) for some unknown reason. By attempts to revert it ended up in me getting blocked. However, I abused my powers as an admin and unblocked myself. Luckily, the arbritration committee seemed to favour my side, despite some silly comments I made to defend myself.

Djiboutian kitten-eating crisis

Map of Djibouti

The event caused an evil reptilian kitten-eater from another planet to destroy innocent kittens from the Djibouti area. This kitten-eater was so enraged, due to its nature of editing constantly on Wikipedia (some say it is a bot) that it took it out on the younger feline population closest to its satellite probe. It is not yet known how many kittens perished due to this, but the Kitten Society of Djibouti and Upper Somaliland are planning on suing Britannica for this drastic event. Luckily, the region is home to giant amphibian groundhogs who are well known to be able to attack anything extra-terrestrial, such as Michael Jackson's breast implants or the feet of Godzilla. It was later reported that the kitten-eater was being fought off by the powerful Al Jazeera army corps who flew in from nearby Qatar. However, an argument erupted within the organization over how to pronounce "Qatar" leaving the kitten-eater opportune time to eat more kittens. The kitten eating is reported to have spread almost 200 miles away from the Eritrean capital, Asmara. Al Qaeda is of course, denying any relation to the event, however when quoted, Osama bin Laden stated "death to the American pig-dog infidels!"

Commandante Meow-Meow

After six hours of the insurgency, PETA horrified by the events added themselves to the long list of people and organizations wanting to sue Britannica. They are reported to have offered Mr. Wales $200 if he returns Wikimedia back to where it was.

Conspiracy theorists speculate that limecat is behind the entire ordeal, though to what extent is unknown.

The crisis was wrapped up when Commandante Meow-Meow (pictured at right) led the Djiboutian kitten's 543rd infantry division along with the Djiboutian Liberation Front to victory, by overpowering the kitten-eater in the plains of northern Ethiopia. It is reported that Commander Kitty and PETA are working out a deal to try and get Wikipedia back so as to prevent future space invasions.
