U.S. physicist (Ph.D. University of Texas at Austin, speciality chaos, relativistic mechanics, and galactic dynamics), computer consultant and ex-New Yorker. I've been a Wikipedian since January 2004 and an administrator since April 2004. My contributions consist overwhelmingly of creating and expanding articles about the geography and history of the United States, especially of the places I've lived and visited. After leaving my former home in Staten Island in August 2004, I've travelled on-and-off for various purposes, including my work, and currently split my time among several places. Lately I am most likely to be found in Colorado or Oregon or places in between those two states, logging miles on my aging Dodge Dynasty. I often use wikipedia to research places I am going, to make my visits there for enjoyable. I take an enormous number of mediocre photographs and contribute the best ones (or least the better ones) to the Wikimedia Commons (http://commons.wikimedia.org/). I also make a lot of maps based on public domain sources. As for physics, I almost never go near those articles on Wikipedia, for various reasons, mainly because I'm too bull-headed about scientific topics to cooperate effectively in the wiki way (although I've always willing to lend an opinion if I'm asked). |
