I was a software developer for several international scientific research institutes & projects, e.g. the Hubble Space Telescope. I have Bachelor degrees in physics and mathematics. I was a web developer since 1993, starting at NASA/GSFC (near Washington, DC). I founded the Web Developer's Virtual Library (http://WDVL.com/), the web's first commercial web site for web developers. I founded EncycloZine (http://EncycloZine.com/), the web's first XHTML site, in November 1998. My interests include: encyclopedias, lateral thinking puzzles, optical illusions, scientific method, Tangerine Dream music (synthesizer), and cooking/eating Vindaloo curry. I'm an expat Brit living with my wife (http://encyclozine.com/Richmond/Lucy/) (American), two sons, and several cats, on a small farm (http://artzia.com/Gallery/Photos/Richmond/Farm/) (for sale (http://encyclozine.com/Richmond/House/)) near Monticello, Charlottesville, VA, USA. We plan to relocate to the United Kingdom later this year (hire me (http://encyclozine.com/Richmond/Alan/resume.shtml)!).
