Hello.
I'm new here (2002-08-20) and just updated the main Wiki How does one edit a page page (which is a clickable link that appears whenever you edit a Wiki page) with more information for new Wikipedians.
One thing I'd like to find out how to do is link from one part of a page to another part. Normal HTML has this ability with the <a name=""> link, but I can't find a reference to anything yet that works in Wiki. Some large pages, like the Editing help page, I can see require an index at the top to entries further down.
My new quest is how to get footnotes working in Wikipedia.
I have a Tiny Home Page (http://www3.sympatico.ca/aschoenhofer) too.

I actually added the page-anchor feature in the latest version of the software, but it's half-disabled now (you can specify a link [[pagename#fragment]], but there's no way to indentify the fragment itself). We are currently undergoing discussions about simplifying and reforming Wiki syntax, and there is not yet a consensus on what the syntax should be for specifying anchors (it's not as obvious as specifying links to them). When that's settled, I'll put back the feature with whatever syntax we decide on. --LDC
