University of South Alabama

The University of South Alabama is an American public, doctoral-level university located in Mobile, Alabama. It was created by the Alabama Legislature in 1963, and replaced existing extension programs operated in Mobile by the University of Alabama. It is divided into nine colleges and schools, and includes Alabama's second state-supported medical school. The university's enrollment is about 13,000, and its president is V. Gordon Moulton.
The school participates in NCAA Division I athletics and is a member of the Sun Belt Conference. USA's athletics teams are nicknamed the Jaguars.
