UKTV Drama was launched as UK Arena on November 1 1997. Originally being the new UKTV network's arts channel, ratings were disappointing and was relaunched on March 31 2000 as UK Drama, with a focus on showing dramas. Along with the rest of the network, the "UK" prefix was changed to "UKTV" on March 8 2004.

The channel is available on Satellite (BSkyB) and Cable platforms.

The output of the channel is mainly drama miniseries from the BBC archive.Template:UK-bcast-stub
